We had already started researching insurance for virtual assistants before your question came through, so this is great timing!
We were starting to think that we’d never get a straight answer on exactly what type of insurances were essential for virtual assistants…
Now we’re happy to report back to our network with our Insurance for Virtual Assistants training, as well as a contact for you to speak to regarding your personal business circumstances and specific VA insurance questions.
Can you apply for virtual assistant roles before you have Professional Indemnity insurance in place?
Yes!
Many of the leads we post do list a current Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance policy as a requirement, however, you can still apply for these roles as long as you are happy to commit to having PI insurance in place if you secure the role.
Once you have your first VA gig in the bag, getting set up with your own PI policy before your start date is quick, easy and important.
Do not start providing a service without having PI insurance in place! Even if your first client doesn’t list it as a requirement.
Public liability insurance, on the other hand, is a completely different matter.
We’re working with an insurance expert to provide our members with comprehensive training on all the types of insurances required by your VA business. More on that below, though in the meantime you can reach out directly to an independent insurance provider such as IME… Oh, look at that – the perfect segue to your second question!
Can we suggest anyone for virtual assistant insurances?
It is important to do your own research and decide which insurance provider you engage for your unique situation.
After interviewing countless insurance providers and insurance brokers, our team finally found someone who:
- Has extensive knowledge about the Australian virtual assistant industry
- Has over 20 years of experience providing insurance for small and medium-sized business
- Offers dedicated packages with varying levels of cover for Australian virtual assistants
- Is excited about insurance, and passionate about educating VAs so that they’re not spending money unnecessarily
- Can tell you exactly which insurances you do and don’t need at each stage of your VA business journey
Virtual Assistant Lead Network does NOT receive any commission or any other type of financial incentive from IME when we introduce our Australian network of virtual assistants to their services.
